Lauren is a Teaching Artist and Counselor at Camp SAY, a summer camp for young people who stutter. During her time in the Pocono Mountains, she gets to share her love of theatre and performing to encourage youth who stutter to say what is in their heart. SAY is a nonprofit that means a lot to Lauren and she is continuously inspired by the art these incredible young people make when they are given a supportive environment that always gives them enough time to say what they need to say.
During her time at Missouri State, Lauren had the opportunity to be involved with the In-School Players, a children's theatre troupe that travels to local elementary schools. The troupe creates original sketches and produces them for a young audience. For most students seeing the In-School Players is their first theatrical experience. Being able to put a smile on a child's face or to see them laugh is priceless and brings Lauren so much joy. There's no art form quite like children's theatre, and Lauren prides herself on her ability to be a ridiculous monster one minute and an overly dramatic princess the next.
